RAW WATER PURIFICATION & MEDIA FILTRATION

Industrial Pre Treatment & Media Filtration

Specialized raw water clarification, depth filtration, MHS Multigrade Filters, activated carbon adsorption, and softening plants designed to protect downstream Reverse Osmosis membranes, DM systems, and high-pressure boilers.

ENGINEERED DEPTH FILTRATION • HIGH-FLUX PERFORMANCE

MHS Multigrade Filter (MGF) Systems

The MaxV® MHS Multigrade Filter (MGF) is an advanced depth filtration vessel engineered specifically to remove suspended solids, turbidity, non-soluble metal oxides, and colloidal particulates down to < 5–10 microns.

Unlike conventional single-media sand filters that suffer from rapid surface clogging, the MHS Multigrade Filter utilizes a carefully calibrated gradient of graded media layers – incorporating specific gravities and grain sizes that allow deep penetration across the entire bed height.

Operating Velocity
25 – 35 m/hr
Double the flux rate of conventional sand filters, saving 50% footprint.
Turbidity Reduction
< 2.0 NTU
Inlet turbidity up to 50 NTU reduced to crystal clear filtrate.
SDI Guard for RO
SDI < 3.0
Crucial membrane protection against fouling and premature degradation.

Internal Media Gradients of MHS Multigrade Filter

The superior performance of MHS filters relies on engineered hydrodynamic packing. As water passes downward, larger particles are captured in the coarse top layers without blinding the bed, while finer silt and colloids are arrested in the deeper fine quartz and garnet zones:

Layer 1: Coarse Anthracite Coal

Low density (~1.4 SG), angular particles (1.2–2.5 mm). Traps bulk suspended solids and prevents surface cake buildup.

Layer 2: Fine Silica Quartz Sand

Medium density (~2.65 SG), washed silica (0.45–0.8 mm). Captures fine suspended particles and colloidal matter.

Layer 3: Graded Gravel & Garnet

High density (~4.0 SG) garnet and multi-layer silica pebbles supporting the underdrain lateral collectors without media loss.

SEDIMENT & SURFACE WATER POLISHING

Dual Media (DMF) & Pressure Sand Filters (PSF)

Robust, heavy-duty media filtration systems for raw river water, borewell intake, and secondary treated effluent.

Dual Media Filters (DMF)

Engineered with a high-capacity combination of Anthracite (top layer) and Silica Quartz Sand (bottom layer). Specially designed for industrial feeds having varying suspended solids load.

  • Effective Bed Volume: Longer filter runs between backwashes
  • Low Head Loss: Less pressure drop across the bed
  • Effluent Polishing: Highly effective downstream of clarifiers and ETP settling tanks

Pressure Sand Filters (PSF)

Reliable single-media units with multiple layers of graded silica sand and pebbles. An economical primary filtration solution for raw borewell and municipal water supplies.

  • Particulate Removal: Traps floating matter and rust flakes > 25μm
  • Vessel Range: Available in FRP, Mild Steel Epoxy Lined, or Stainless Steel
  • Valving: Manual Multiport Valve or automated valve banks
DECHLORINATION & ORGANIC REMOVAL

Activated Carbon Filters (ACF)

Free chlorine and dissolved organic matter are catastrophic to thin-film composite polyamide RO membranes, causing irreversible membrane oxidation and biofouling.

The MaxV® ACF Series uses premium virgin granular activated carbon (GAC) derived from select coconut shells and high-grade coal, delivering an Iodine Value ranging from 900 to 1100 mg/g for maximum catalytic dechlorination and organic adsorption.

Dechlorination (Cl&sub2;) Reduces Free Residual Chlorine to < 0.05 ppm to preserve membranes.
Color & Odor Adsorption Removes tannins, dyes, phenols, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
COD / BOD Reduction Adsorbs refractory non-biodegradable organics in effluent polishing loops.
Steam Sanitization Option MSRL / SS vessels engineered for live low-pressure steam sterilization.
